Playa Punta Banco

A quiet, wild stretch of coast just south of Pavones, where the rainforest meets the Pacific.

A Peaceful Escape

A few kilometers south of Pavones, near the end of the coastal road, Punta Banco is one of the most tranquil places in southern Costa Rica. Rocky points, small coves and forested hills create a wild, unspoiled landscape with very few visitors.

It is the perfect place to disconnect, walk along the shore at low tide and watch spectacular sunsets over the Pacific.

Surf and Nature

Punta Banco has a reef break with both rights and lefts, which often works in conditions different from Pavones, making it a good alternative when the point is flat or crowded.

The surrounding forest is home to howler monkeys, scarlet macaws, toucans and countless birds, and sea turtles nest on the beaches of the area during the nesting season. The Ngäbe indigenous territory of Conte Burica lies nearby: please be respectful of local communities.
